Guy Ritchie and Madonna Guy Ritchie on Madonna: ‘She’s retarded, too.’

He can wax philosophical while having a street punk straightforward manner of speaking. One may get the impression that this guy Guy is a no-fuss English bloke. Some arguably monumental things have happened in his life, with some still about to happen. He was once married to Madonna, and he has an upcoming potential blockbuster Sherlock Holmes in December. He boasts that Sherlock Holmes was the ‘West’s first martial artist.’ ‘Popularly thought of as a brawler,’ he, himself, practices Brazilian jujitsu.

He is a film director, has a lot on his mind, and speaks a lot and at great length– though his thoughts can be distilled along essential lines which may be called Guy Ritchie’s simple truths such as “You have to be comfortable being uncomfortable” and “It’s okay to have beliefs, just don’t believe in them.” The Gypsies have also taught him not to keep anything valuable in the house. He thinks the Gypsies have made him smart.

What is more revealing is what he thinks of his ex-wife Madonna: “She’s a manifester, if there ever was one. First-rate manifester. Madonna makes things happen. Put Madonna up against any twenty-three-year-old, she’ll outwork them, outdance them, outperform them. The woman is broad.” In reply to her once calling him ‘emotionally retarded,’ he finally admits, “I still love her. But she’s retarded, too.”
