David Fitzherbert thanked his Blackberry for his survival after he had hung on to his dear life for over two hours in freezing cold and a depth of 70 meters at a glacier in the Matterhorn and Monterosa peaks in Switzerland. David had fallen into a deep crevice after the snow under his feet gave way and in an astonishing tale of luck, coincidence and sheer astonishment David got wedged between the two walls of the deep fissure at about 70 meters. It was the Blackberry in the breast pocket of David that kept him wedged at that spot for two long hours until the recue workers finally found him.
If you thought that that was the end o the miracle, then you are in for another surprise. The true story that Vodafone (provider of David’s Blackberry) wants to tell the world is how after keeping David alive the mobile still worked like a charm and was used by the uber-lucky skier to call home and talk to his wife. Both Blackberry and Vodafone would love to now use this to prop up their business and as far as David is concerned… Thank god he did not carry an ultra-slim model!
