‘Helios’ supposed to be the personification of the sun as per Greek mythology, seems to be the appropriate name given to the new concept car designed by Kim Gu-Han from Universität Duisburg-Essen, Germany which won the Best Use of Technology category at the latest Interior Motives Design Awards. It is an off-road electric solar powered vehicle that adds a new facet to the whole fleet of solar cars.

Motivated by the nature’s concept where animals like lizards stretch their skin to absorb light and heat from the sun, Helios spreads its ‘wings’ that have solar panels when not in motion. The four wings are capable of storing enough energy to power electric appliances in your house.

If you are worried about driving something that looks so weird with spread out wings, don’t worry, because you can wrap them up while driving. A car that can generate electricity not just for itself but for all the appliances in your house from a renewable source is commendable. I’m looking forward to the launch of this green car that looks like a perfect combination of style, technology and safety.
