Technology and music go together and you can’t take out the technology from music though you can take out music from technology! Any music lover would know that his/her drumkits couldn’t be replaced unless they spend an awful lot of money. So, when we are at it, why not think about a DIY kit? Dror has designed a homemade electronic drumkit that promises great performance and of course mind blowing sound synthesis all packed in with an amplifier, as a surprise.
The idea was to recreate the foot pedals and he modified regular pedals and mechanically upgraded them with aluminum plates. He has even added variable resistors and hence, when he pushes the pedal the resistant changes and is sent to the MIDI unit. The kit performs well and must give inspiration to anyone who is musically inclined and is looking at having something cool at home, for a lesser price.
However, it is not clear how much the drumkit costs and if it could be ordered from him. Music needs technology as much as it needs art and this proves a music lover need not be all arty and can be quite geekish too.
