An indentified gunman entered American Civic Association building and shot dead 12 people. More than a dozen people are wounded. It is feared there may be 20-40 hostages still in the building. The gunman is suspected to be a 20 year old man of Asian origin.

As the hostage crisis continues, SWAT teams are trying to evacuate the building. The exact figures of gunmen, hostages, casualties and those trapped are not yet clear. It is feared that one gunman maybe among the dead.

American Civic Association located at Binghamton helps immigrants and refugees. It also offers various kinds of services like counseling, resettlement, citizenship and reunification. It was here that the gunman went on shooting spree this morning. Two suspects have been arrested so far. Nearby schools and apartments have been evacuated. FBI is sending negotiators to handle the hostage situation.

No city in world seems to be safe from such dire situations. It just takes sole gunman to bring security loop holes to notice. This attack and hostage drama reminds one of the Bombay terrorists attack. There too gunmen were young and the hostage crisis went on for two days.
