‘Water’ believed to be the creator of life has the vigor to help its creation with the enormous stores of power hidden within it. Hydropower, one of the renewable sources which are serving mankind in many ways is one of them. Hydraulic Silo is one such nano hydropower generation plant. Wondering why I mentioned ‘regeneration? That is because this plant re-uses the water again and again to generate power. Confusing? I’ll tell you how…

Hydraulic Silo has the following parts- water tank reservoir, a water pump, starter (electric motor), hydraulic turbine and a generator. The water is first filled into the tank. Then the gate valve on the starter is switched on so that the water pump pushes water under pressure towards the turbine which is in turn connected to the generator. It is this generator that converts hydraulic energy into electricity. To provide constant pressure needed for generation of current a belt, pulley, shaft, & gear are connected to the turbine. Therefore, electricity is needed only to start the pump, later the pulley system takes over. The water that passes through the turbine is re-directed into the tank and used again.

The advantages of this system are it doesn’t waste water, uses less electricity, and can be used as both small scale utility for powering a home, electric cars, etc and for large scale power generation in cities. This would mean an intelligent application of the latest technology to help people in favor of environment.

This “Hydraulic Silo” will not work. You can never get as much energy out of something as you put into it, so the electric motor will have to run all the time and use more energy than it makes.

This is nothing but a perpetual motion machine of first type i.e a machine performing more work than given input.
