A new hydrogen city car has been designed by the students and professors of Oxford and Cranfield Universities and at the moment it is just a design. The design has been left half complete and the open source community has been given the opportunity to complete the project.
The project is available online for all those cool geeks to complete. It weighs 770 pounds, same size as the smart fortwo, top speed of 50 mph and a range of 200 miles. It would use 6kW hydrogen fuel cell and the price of the car would include the fuel as well. Riversimple is planning to manufacture it.
Funny thing is the car won’t go on sale but would be leased out for 20 years. I doubt anyone would want to keep a car for 20 years straight. It could be an interesting concept especially when everyone is searching for the right urban car which is also clean, green and sustainable.
