Mohamed El Baradei IAEA Director Mohamed El Baradei Resigns

The International Atomic Energy Agency or IAEA which is a nuclear energy monitoring organization of the United Nations, bid farewell to its current director, Mohamed ElBaradei as the he announced his retirement from the agency. At the farewell ceremony, Dr. ElBaradei recited some of the lines from the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi.

In a statement, he said, “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; were there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy,” Dr. ElBaradei served in the capacity of the Director of IAEA for 12 years and was also awarded the highly coveted Nobel Peace Prize in the year 2005.

However, even after serving in the IAEA for the last 12 years, Dr. ElBaradei, IAEA still has miles to go in the current confrontation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and its ongoing and increasing nuclear ambitions. The ongoing tensions were further escalated after Iran announced that it would be creating ten more nuclear enrichment facilities, after which the IAEA has been discussing possible sanctions against Iran.

One of the failures in the dialogs that has truly disappointed Dr. ElBaradei was the rejection of the nuclear deal that he himself had created, to ensure that Iran does get the nuclear fuel it requires to meet its energy needs and abandon its nuclear program.
