A team of United Nations nuclear inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) who went into Iran to run tests and the asses the progress of the Islamist regime’s nuclear program has returned and is reportedly satisfied with their observations. The team has went for inspections to a till now secret uranium enrichment plant.
As of now, the details of their mission, that includes their observations and the facts and figures gathered at the site, haven’t been disclosed. It is is widely believed that, the data brought back by the team will play a vital role in deciding, what turn the next rounds of nuclear negotiations with Iran will take. The six major nuclear powers have been in intense diplomatic talks with Tehran, trying reason with the Islamist country to abandon its nuclear ambitions, in exchange of financial incentives from the international community.
The highly secret uranium enrichment facility is located near the holy city of Qom and the place is plant is known as, The Fordo site. Iran had reveled its existence to the IAEA in the month of September this year, via a confidential letter sent to the director of IAEA. However, countries such as, U.S., Britain and France state that, they knew that this site existed and Iran took preemptive steps to inform the nuclear regulatory body, because it believed that the western governments were about the break the seal on the Fardo site in front of IAEA.
Iran’s nuclear program has been a tough bone to swallow for NATO members and other states as well, who strongly believe that, inspite of Teheran’s claims, that its nuclear program id for civilian purposes, Iran could very well be in the works of fabricating nuclear weapons. A nuclear capable Iran in an already highly volatile Middle East, would prove to be a powder keg, just waiting to explode.
