Microsoft said the beta version of Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) was downloaded by 10 million internet users in the first six weeks after launch, according to figures from the manufacturer.
Also according to the study, users utilize only 12 of the regular features of the browser.
According to Microsoft, the IE9 promises to speed up web browsing. For this, brings a new engine features like Java Script, the Chakra, which uses multicore processors (more than one core) to expedite the processing of this type of code, often used on the web. The company says the new version is up to 11 times faster than Internet Explorer 8, and is faster at JavaScript than the latest versions of Firefox and Safari.
Internet Explorer 9 is also the first browser to be fully hardware accelerated by using the GPU of PCs to help in rendering pages. The browser uses 90% of the power of PCs that previously did not take advantage of the Web browsers, Microsoft said.
The new MS browser brings fewer items in the navigation bar, with the controls that users said they wanted more and use as a larger button to return. Additionally, this button turns the site, calling less attention to the internet browser.
Companies such as CNN, Discovery, eBay and The Wall Street Journal have already developed, in partnership with Microsoft, features for the launch of the new browser.
