India Uncut: The Tale of a Blogger

indiauncut India Uncut: The Tale of a Blogger

If wit and sarcasm could take people places, Amit Verma, the Indian blogger stands as a good example. After winning the Best Indian Blogger award amongst many others, he has been nominated at the 2008 weblog awards for Best Asian Blog and Best Political Coverage.

Amit Verma is no stranger to blogosphere and he is already well known among the South Asian circles for his shrewd observations about politics and daily happenings. The prize does not come with any monetary awards but the name and fame it brings with it and the international audience he would get is far more valuable than any cash prize.

Amit Verma’s India Uncut began in 2004 and he has a huge fan following all across India and other South Asian countries. I would congratulate him for achieving so much in such little time in a medium that is still not considered ‘mainstream’. Though, blogging perhaps is the fastest growing medium for communication to take place. Blogging may perhaps hold the key to the way we would communicate and disseminate information, news and opinion.

These awards could encourage many young and talented writers to try their hand at publishing and be heard. Amit Verma and other such bloggers need more encouragement and support from the mainstream so that all the effort does not go unnoticed. These awards are just a part of the recognition they deserve. Hope he wins it!
