Fifth and final phase of polling will end soon and sometime next week India’s election results will be declared. Well, the political buzz and activity confirms the worst fear that once again no single party will emerge with confident clear majority. Political parties’ somersaults and gymnastics have already begun. Each big political party is out fishing small parties to get that elusive magic number and come to power.
It is really very unfortunate indeed that after going through cumbersome exercise of holding polls in such a hugely populated country, fate of the country will be decided by handful of power hungry political parties and elected MPs. NDA is showing its strength and partners now(isn’t it too late? already many states have voted), UPA is keeping options open, Left is harping about third front and keeping Right option open too. Small political parties and leaders are most sought after people. It has all just reduced to sheer number game
The most disgusting part is right now all these parties are dreaming about coalition only to come to power at any cost but they never choose coalition partners with intention of staying in power and giving stable government. Once in power there will negotiations between coalition partners for each ministerial berth and also each policy. There will be black mail, withdrawal of support and once again nation will be on edge with fears of midterm polls. The great Indian democracy has got reduced to sheer great Indian hypocrisy.
