Best and popular music is usually launched in elite circles in clubs or trendy music stores and ends up being played out in the streets and its true success lies in making people sing and dance. But Oasis decided to re-invent the music launch itself. The songs of the album “Dig Out Your Soul” were first played on the streets on New York by street musicians. Oasis actually picked up and trained some twenty street musicians in New York who hit the streets with the new songs.

This event was documented by acclaimed directors, The Malloys and was released on YouTube, Flickr and NYC website. This innovative release got global press coverage too. The documentary was viewed on internet some 200,000 times or more. It was also distributed via My Space. The campaign worked and the album became one of the top 10 albums of Oasis in last ten years.

Advertising music albums is becoming innovative too thanks to internet and social networking. Music reaches millions in no time at all and can be bought online too. And this launch of music on streets of New York and getting direct response from people directly must have been gratifying experience for musicians too.
