Insects seem to grab the attention of car designers more than that of the entomologists now-a-days. After cars that resembled butterflies, it’s the grasshopper’s turn now. Insecta, a 22 year old Taiwanese designer’s futuristic concept car takes its inspiration from the creepy grasshoppers. The designer Shao Yung Yeh studied industrial design at Cheng Kung University. This weird looking car resembles the insect to the core.

Insecta has a central framework which resembles the thorax and an electric battery pack built-in at the bottom which reminds you of the grasshopper’s abdomen. This battery pack aligns itself as the car changes its direction to uphold the balance. Its sports a jagged look with its hub-mounted wheel motors. Accommodating just a single person, this frivolous concept adjusts its height according to the conditions of the traffic.
The designer’s passion for nature and craving for technology has been depicted in this beautiful design. Yeh doesn’t want big brands to launch his Insecta. He’s looking for an independent electric car company which can give shape to this unique concept of his, so that it can hop on to the road soon. So, in the near future, if you see an insect gliding by your car on the road, don’t assume it to be a mutated grasshopper! It might just be Insecta…
