One of the foremost names in automotive electrical distribution systems, Evatran has now unveiled is latest creation in the form of the all new Evatran Plugless Power system that has been designed and developed to provide wireless charging options for electric vehicles (EV). This unique wireless/proximity charging system was introduced at the Plug-In 2010 Conference and is said to have a charging efficiency rate of an astounding 91 percent, as against 80% provided by similar platform till last year. To make use of Plugless Power system, car owners will have install a special charge receiver that will charge the car’s batteries when the vehicle is in close proximity to the charging station. The charging devices are disc shaped and in the testing phase have proved to be of immense convenience as well as effective in charging plug in cars.
The Plugless Power system from Evatran has currently been rolled out in a trial phase, where in the company in expecting some eight to ten Chevrolet Volt plug in car to be given the charge receiver upgrade. This trial phase expected to gather up to 30 such vehicles by the month of January next year. As of now Evantran is planning to test the system on fleet of vehicles, but the company has also showcased its wireless EVSE system for homes that will enable the EV owners to charge their plug on vehicles wirelessly at home.
