Riding a bike to work, for leisure or simply to get some groceries, is a great way to stay in shape, all the while reducing the harmful effects of gasoline on the environment. However, if there is one concern that troubles just about every bike owner, is the safety of the bike, when you park it in a lot and many a times, return to just a broken lock and chain, with your bike missing.
Now, Kevin Scott, a designer by profession has invented a unique solution to this problem, in the form of a revolutionary ‘Bendable Bike’. This one of a kind conventional bike has been designed and developed in a way, that a users can simply wrap the bike around a lamp post and lock the bike safely, without having to worry about it being stolen. The bendable bike has been built around a ratchet system, that is built inside the bike itself, thereby giving the bike the flexibility to be wrapped around and then lock it up tight through the wheels and the frame.

Mr. Scott, age 21, is a graduate from the De Montfort University in England and is currently in the runner up position for the prestigious Business Design Centre New Designer of the Year Award. The bendable bike as of now is in the prototype stage and the Kevin plans to bring this incredible bike to commercial production standards soon.
According to Kevin Scott,
“This has validated how I feel about the product. It’s a justification of the uniqueness of the design and the possibilities for taking it further. I intend to use the prize money to outsource production of some of the key components to allow for full testing. This has validated how I feel about the product.
