Outgoing IAEA head Dr. ElBaradei once admitted, “But, somehow, many people are talking about how Iran’s nuclear program is the greatest threat to the world. In many ways, I think the threat has been hyped.” He probably said this before new evidence surfaced and prior to tremendous anti-Iran nuclearization pressure from the West.
However, there has also been a counter-debate as to the supposed nuclear threat from Iran’s burgeoning nuclearization. Here are some proposed reasons that may point to the possibility that Iran’s nuclear program is overrated and hyped.
Iran did sign the Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT). It is up to the world whether to trust that signing or not. For as long as two years, Iran did shut down its enrichment activities ‘to appease the UN and world powers.’ It could have been just a public display. It’s up to the world to evaluate any level of sincerity from the country.
As far as enriched uranium is concerned, it may still be regarded as factual that ‘Iran does not have the know-how to enrich uranium to weapons grade,’ that ‘Iran has not yet enriched uranium to grades usable for civilian use,’ and that ‘Iran has never been able to maintain its enrichment cascade up or more than 24 hours.’
Would it also alleviate the fears of the West that the ‘International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has placed cameras in Iran’s nuclear enrichment centers which monitor the process 24/7’?
