jundallah Iran Accuses U.S & U.K For The Suicide Attack On Revolutionary Guards

Iran has squarely blamed the suicide bomb attack carried out by the Sunni militant outfit Jundallah (Soldier of God) at a meeting venue between the top brass of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and the local tribal leaders, on the intelligence services of the United States and the United Kingdom. In a statement released today by the Iranian officials, Tehran claimed that it has concrete evidence connecting the intelligence services of the western countries to Jundallah. The suicide attack killed Gen. Noor Ali Shooshtari, Commander, Revolutionary Guards ground forces, Rajab Ali Mohammadzadeh, Pishin district’s chief provincial Guard Commander among many other officers.

According to Mohammad Ali Jafari (Commander in Chief, Revolutionary Guards),

“Behind this scene are the American and British intelligence apparatus, and there will have to be retaliatory measures to punish them.”

Along with the United States and the United Kingdom, the Iranian officials also pointed towards Pakistan, stating that the Jundallah militant outfit is based in now terror stricken country and that the group has the backing of all three nations, providing support and other crucial assistance, enabling the group to carry out large scale attacks against Iranian interests.

In lieu of the allegation put forth by Tehran, Ian C. Kelly (Spokesman, U.S. State Department) said,

“We condemn this act of terrorism and mourn the loss of innocent lives. Reports of alleged U.S. involvement are completely false.”

There seems to be a bitter irony in Iran’s allegation’s towards Pakistan, a country that is currently going through relentless terror attacks and had to resort to the military to bring the situation under control. However, this is not the first time, that any country has raised doubts over Pakistan, as the existence of radical Islamist outfits in the Pakistani regions are a known fact.
