The Islamic Republic of Iran has initiated its war games and military drills, the ones it had announced yesterday. The drills have one primary goal, to assess and elevate the current security apparatus that has the responsibility of providing security to the country’s nuclear installations and specifically to enhance its anti air capabilities to repel any air invasion from the state of Israel.

The ongoing military drill is reportedly spread across most of central, western and southern parts of Iran. One of the top commanders of Iranian armed forces, General Ahmad Mighani, who leads an air force unit responsible for responding to aerial threats to Iranian airspace has stated that, the current military drills are largely covering the areas where Iran’s nuclear facilities are located.

The war games are comprised of the Iran’s armed forces, the elite Revolutionary Guards and the dreaded Basij paramilitary forces, one of the most dreaded military units that is under the direct control of the Revolutionary Guards and the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

According to Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh (Commander, Revolutionary Guards Air Force),

“We are sure they are not able to do anything against us since they cannot predict our reaction. If their fighter planes could escape from Iran’s air defense system, their bases will be hit by our devastating surface-to-surface missiles before they land.”

Furthermore, Iran has also announced that, it will soon attain the capability of designing and developing surface to air missiles that, will greatly enhance the country’s anti air defense capabilities. The statement was made by General Ahmad Vahidi, who is the defense minister of Iran and speculations state that Iran’s decision to build home made air defense weapons could have been the result of a delay in the shipment of S-300 anti-aircraft missiles, that was to delivered by Russia.
