Iran Refuses Any Further Bilateral Talks With The West

In its latest bid to denounce the United Nation’s efforts to come to a mutual agreement, the Islamic Republic of Iran has announced that, it will take upon itself to enrich its current stockpile of low level uranium, in move that has is being viewed as a direct slap in the face of the West. Furthermore, Tehran has confirmed its intentions of not entering into any sort of negotiations or deals with the six party group.

According to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (President, Iran),

“You should know that even if you sizzle (from impatience or desire to talk) … the Iranian nation won’t talk to you concerning the nuclear issue. I declare here that with the grace of God, the Iranian nation will produce 20 percent (enriched uranium) fuel and anything it needs itself. We told them, give us the 20 percent fuel (in an exchange). But then they started adding conditions. So we said, if you want to give us the fuel we’ll take it. If not, then fine and goodbye.”

The western countries along with the United Nations have been pressurizing the Islamic state to come to the negotiation tables in regards to its nuclear program. The parties involved in the [previous rounds of talks have trying to make Iran agree on an agreement, that would provide Tehran with highly enriched fuel rods for its medical and energy needs, in exchange of the huge stockpile of low enriched uranium that the country poses.

The one factor that has really got the international community call riled up is that while low level uranium can be used for energy purposes, the same component when enriched to higher levels, can easily be deployed to create nuclear weapons. These new statements come in the wake of a strong wave of criticism from the Western countries, over Iran’s decision to develop 10 more nuclear enrichment facilities.
