In an effort to shows its advanced capabilities in nuclear technology, the Islamic Republic of Iran has announced its intention to build ten more nuclear enrichment facilities. This latest revelation by the emerging power in the Middle East is being viewed by experts as a show of contempt in the face of the U.N nuclear watchdog the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).

This move on the part of Iran is more like to create greater rifts between the Islamic nation and the West who has repeatedly stated that, it time is running out for Iran to come to mutual agreement with the international community and recede its nuclear program. Furthermore, the United States along with other nations have signaled that, a United Resolution could be reached very soon to ensure that the nuclear ambitions of Iran do not take the shape of reality.

Washington has stated that Iran’s ambition of creating more nuclear facilities is is direct violation of the sanctions that had been imposed by the United Nations Security Council. After a recent outburst by the IAEA, Tehran had warned that, continuous pressure on Iran might lead to reduced Iranian cooperation with the United Nations.

However, the creation of new nuclear facilities by Iran will takes years of construction and installation of essential components such as centrifuges. Still, this latest statement from Iran is a bold one and could easily lead to an escalation in the already strained relation between Tehran and the United States of America and the United Nations.
