After days of continuing unrest, violence, and a near rebellion against the fraudulent election in Iran, one of the most influential personalities in Iranian politics slammed the election authority for a failed job. Ali Larijani, Iran’s Parliament speaker has strongly criticized the election authority stating that, it had taken sides with one particular candidate. This statement comes in the wake of continuing protests across Iran.
Due to the ban on the international media, it has become very hard to determine the number of casualties in these widespread protests. Still, numerous videos have been making their way from Iran via various social networking websites. These videos depict protestors being beaten and shot at by the police along with the sounds of helicopters flying overhead.

In an interview to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Ali Larijani said;
“Although the Guardian Council is made up of religious individuals, I wish certain members would not side with a certain presidential candidate.”
Opposition leader Mir Hossein Moussavi and his supporters have been protesting against the fact that, the election authorities declared the hardline president candidate Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the winner amidst the growing complaints.
However, Iran’s Foreign Minster, Manouchehr Mottaki is supporting the election authorities stating that the prospect of irregularities is almost nil. Mottaki said;
“The possibility of organized and comprehensive disruption and irregularities in this election is almost close to zero given the composition of the people who are holding the election.”
There is a growing understanding that the whiplash rule of Iran’s Supreme Leader and the President might now be falling apart. The protestors have been openly defying authorities’ warnings and actions and are totally devoted to making their voice heard without any regards to their own safety.
