Anyone who has ever surfed the Internet on a the Amazon Kindle e-reader would tell you that, it’s no fun to access the web via Kindle’s we browser. The reason being that, the web browser embedded in the Kindle is a far cry from the browsers found in other mobile device as Kindle’s browser is pretty rudimentary. The web browser available in the Kindle comes with very limited support for the ever evolving web standards and has been enabled with the very basics of JavaScript.

However, as per a posting found at the web site of Lab126, the Amazon vertical that has been tasked with the development of the Kindle, the company is now looking for a new browser engineer, fueling the speculations that, the Kindle could very well be given a new and highly improved we browser. The job opportunity posted at Lab126, specifically requires the browser engineer to be able to create and incorporate new features for web browser, all while preserving the original code of the browser. Furthermore, the applicants need to have a thorough knowledge of the emerging web standards along with web rendering engines.

The current generation web browser available in the Kindle is just good enough for the users to conduct their e-mail activities, access Twitter or read through the numerous articles from Wikipedia. However, this browser isn’t particularly handy when it comes to images and other interactive web applications.
