Carol Bartz took over Yahoo sometime back and the lady had some guts. She had found out what is ailing Yahoo and how so many people had so many things to say, but no one ever did anything! However, now she is being accused of selling off Yahoo’s crown jewel for a dime.

Yahoo search would be replaced by Bing and thus that is the end of the glorious Yahoo Search Engine. The Yahoo that we all knew was all about searching and using the Interne just like Google is allowing us to do now.

But with this deal, Microsoft will give Yahoo 88% of revenue, but yahoo will have to use Bing. Yahoo will now apparently concentrate on its other strengths like mail, online content and news. This could actually be the end of Yahoo and Internet is reduced to a new cold war state where Microsoft and Google will battle it out.

With just two superpowers, and Google decidedly having the upper hand, one can actually see the old days of Cold War repeating in the dotcom business world. Perhaps, Microsoft will break up too, just like the Soviet Union did leaving the whole online world for Google to control. Not a very pretty thought, if you asked me!
