The smell of death and destruction hung in the air around Gaza Strip after Israeli air strikes killed more than 300 people. Most of the killed were civilians including 7 school children who were apparently waiting for their bus. The blitz has injured more than 1000 people and the attacks began after the ceasefire came to an end. The Islamists in return have been firing missiles into Israeli territory in what seems like an endless shower of death and destruction.

Khaled Meshaal has already called for the 3rd Intefada against Israel while the region continues to deteriorate. The targets are all near crowded civilian areas and that is perhaps a reason why the 7 teenagers waiting for their school bus were killed. The gloom in Palestine could be easily understood with the wails and sobbing of men and women. Israeli planes even bombed Egyptian border to destroy certain paths into the Palestinian territory.

While the Hamas and the Israeli government are engaged in this bitter struggle, one can only feel the pain among the civilians of Gaza Strip as their near ones and loved ones have died within a day. This certainly has to be one of the most gruesome and vicious attacks carried out. Hamas has retaliated and the onus lies on both sides, to give up violence for the sake of the millions who have bled in the region.
