It’s time to celebrate. This is the spirit of Carnaval in Brazil. From north to south, different rhythms, different colors, different cultures are celebrated so majestic that it is the biggest party in Brazil and perhaps in the world. Even in small towns, the Carnaval is celebrated, in the streets, or in clubs.
However, what many do not know is that by the magic behind all of the Carnaval, there is a huge industry that moves billions of dollars. Several sectors of the economy come together in order to organize this 5 days party to celebrate the cultural variety, entertainment and the “excess”.

In the case of the parades of the samba schools of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the excess is to bring the public a luxurious and exciting spectacle. In the first two nights of Carnaval are transmitted by TV stations showing the parades of the samba schools of Sao Paulo. In the other two, the parades from Rio de Janeiro. The Sambadrome, the place where the schools parade, become luxury, magic and a lot of samba walkways.
Each samba school has usually between 3000 and 5000 participants) on the sambodrome. Rich and poor side by side. Celebrities and socialites displaying their costumes that can cost more than USD 30000 each one.
But there are many differences between the samba show in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Sao Paulo has a “faster”, more “industrial” samba, while in Rio, the samba has a slower, but more rhythmic.
However, the life of the party is the same. What matters is the fun and community spirit that each samba school has. Of course there is tremendous competition among them, so their organization must be impeccable (planning a parade of the samba school before the Carnaval within 180 days). Testing, preparation of clothing, the synchronization of movements (among other things) is a thorough job.
A kind of work and effort that bring unforgettable moments for millions of Brazilians and tourists from all over the world during the Carnaval.
