James Franco is the kind of man that can make any woman turn into a jelly-kneed bumbling teenager. His charms make him irresistible to men as well, and how can we not understand that. After all, who can say no to that boyish grin, the beautiful eyes, the sexy body, the…
James has made it quite hard for any of us to make a definite guess about his sexual orientation. Perhaps, he’s deviously trying to keep all options open for himself. There wouldn’t be many who have not heard of his role and much publicised gay kiss with Sean Penn in the movie Milk, but it isn’t his only gay experience. Franco certainly doesn’t care about people contemplating his sexual orientation (he would trash this article in a second!) but he hasn’t been close mouthed about his gay obsession, either.

A few years ago, while filming for the movie Sonny, Franco revealed he had done some interesting character research; he went on a ‘date’ with an escort boy and his two clients. This isn’t strange news because any dedicated actor would have done it. What makes it so interesting is the fact that Franco’s gigolo friend was servicing male clients. Unabashedly, Franco also divulged the fact that he watched the three men having sex and even took off his shirt to truly get into the mood.
Franco makes more gay news this time with his excellent direction of a gay short film based on the Anthony Hecht poem, The Feast of Stephen. According to MovieLine the film, which is part of his stint at the NY University’s film school, screened at CineVegas highlights Franco’s talent in film direction and is an extremely graphic interpretation of the poem. The poem itself is an erotic interpretation of what most guys would call harmless fun; drawing images of semi-nude bullies and locker room fun amongst pretty boys curious about the bodies of their male friends as much as they are of themselves.

The question that arises in the minds of most everyone, though, is just how much harmless fun Franco sees in all of this. Is he truly a tolerant and broad-minded straight guy or is he gay? Bi? Curious? In the end, we can end the idiotic speculation and answer the questions in true Franco style without trying to force him into one of these man-made categories. What the hell does it matter?!
