If you are interested in mythology, you would know that Janus was the Roman god of doorways and passages. He was represented by two faces on the opposite sides of his head.
In fact, it is because of this reason that people with marked dichotomies, and also people who are “two faced” or double sided or termed to be Janus faced. Janus chairs are inspired by this two sidedness, and are one of the six sculptural shelters at Kielder Water & Forest Park.

It is Europe’s largest manmade lake and is situated in England. It is also England’s largest forest. The chair can be rotated and adjusted to face the sun or away from the sun, face the wind or away from the wind or even make the two sides of Janus Chair face each other, if you like the person who is sitting with you a lot.

The Janus Chairs have been designed by Ryder Architecture and it is made from laminated Douglas fir and polished stainless steel backs. There is also a closed bud of a flower within the chair that comes to bloom when they are rotated outward. They would allow you to enjoy the lake and the forest.
