Harry Potter may live in the wizarding world but news of him remains fresh on the streets of the non-wizarding world of ignorant humans. The seven books revolving around the mishaps and triumphs of teenage wizard Harry and his friends have spread the obsession of spells, potions and anything associated with magic amongst people of all ages.
The books, and eventually the movies based on the books, have made author J.K. Rowling one of the richest women in Britain, and more. Jo is in the news this time facing a lawsuit by the son of author Adrian Jacobs. According to the son’s lawyer, Jo copied copious amounts from Jacobs’ book The Adventures of Willy the Wizard which came out in 1987, a decade before she published the first of the Potter series. The lawsuit which was first filed in 2004 claimed Jo got the idea of a wizard competition, the lake task, and solving the clue of the golden egg in the bathroom, from the book on Willy the Wizard.
Jo and her agent has, obviously, denied all these claims and insist that she had never even heard of the ‘insubstantial’ book which was only 36 pages long. Seems like people just can’t get enough of the Potter series. For those of you who don’t want to go the length of suing Jo, just wait till Half-Blood Prince hits the big screen and enjoy that. I know I can’t wait for it!
