Kickbee Lets The Foetus Communicate

kickbee Kickbee Lets The Foetus Communicate

With the kind of ideation and technology available today, even unborn children can be a part of the active living world. And Corey Menscher is the first one to make that possible. The story goes like this, Corey wanted to experience that kicks, movements and utero activities of his unborn child. So he thought of a device which he calls Kickbee running on a set of piezo sensors that have to ability to monitor the baby and send wireless updates on Twitter.

Equipped with a stretchy band and a velcro, the pregnant mom has to strap the Kickbee around her tummy. And so the sensors sit ready to react with movement and record it. There is an Arduino too that makes sense of the inputs and wirelessly transmits them to a nearby MackBook Pro, and this Pro sends out messages to Twitter.

At the moment, the sensors are a little too ‘touchy’ plus the maker wants that Arduino should directly communicate with Twitter. But that is being worked on. So, right now Corey’s wife has to be within the bluetooth range.
