The Kindle DX is supposed to save paper and also unnecessary wastage of paper. You could read newspapers and textbooks on it and it would come with a 9.7 inch screen.
There are also other rumors such as the ability to add annotations and a PDF support. The PDF support did not exist in the previous version and that is perhaps why it is being included now. New York Times is also going to reduce subscription rates to just $10 and that would help people to use the Kindle DX and read newspapers at a reduced cost.
It is designed to help students and textbook publishers and may also include a web browsing facility though it can’t be confirmed yet. I would like to wait and watch and see how many of these rumors are actually true. However, it is at least confirmed that there would be a better version of the Kindle and there is no information about its intended price.
