All males over the age of two years love spending time in front of the mirror checking out imagined muscles. After hours working out at the gym, it becomes a favourite time pass for men to check themselves out in the mirror to see if anything has been accomplished from all their hard work. Perhaps, your mirror may soon start talking back to you.
The Magic Mirror is computerized and can analyse muscle activity to give you a real-time image of the effects of exercise. Created by researchers at the University of Tokyo under the guidance of Professor Yoshihiko Nakamura of the Information and Robot Technology Research Initiative, the working of the mirror has recently been unveiled to the media in a demonstration. The mirror creates a computer-generated image of 30% of the musculo-skeletal system of the person attached to it. The image is displayed with active muscles in yellow and inactive muscles in red.
The researchers hope to create a more compact version and claim it would be a useful addition to home gyms, gyms and hospitals. Furthermore, it could also be used in the treatment of muscular diseases.
