In a case similar to that of a man biting the dog instead of the other way round, a man has infected his herd of pigs after being infected with Swine Flu. The Canadian farm worker returned to his farm from Mexico where he contracted the disease and passed the virus to the pigs making it the first case of human to animal transmission.
This is rather ironic as most countries have banned American pork and nations are embroiled in legal and diplomatic struggles over the Swine flu virus. Most countries in Asia have banned all pork imports and pigs have been quarantined.
The man who tested positive H1N1 virus may now stand at risk of spreading the risk to other humans as well. However, the infected pigs being able to transmit the virus has been termed low and they have all been quarantined. It is rather strange as most would believe the virus would spread from animals to humans.
