It is a common thing to lose your way when on a trek. But won’t life be easier if you had a map and a light soure in your hand. You can find your way plus also make use of it as a light source. Owen Song has made that concept a reality in what he likes to call a ‘map light’.
A design that gives new meaning to a regular flashlight, the map light is a map that can be scrolled to turn into a flashlight. The two roles are so easily interchangeable that you will definitely ‘Bless the Song boy’!
The functionality is very simple. One paper is map-printed while the other one is a cover. Before the two are stuck together, a paer-like battery ad LEDs are kept in-between. Then there are the two electrodes on the back of the cover paper. So on scrolling, the two electrodes come together and the LEDs get turned on serving the purpose of a flashlight.
Also, you can adjust the size of the map light. IF you want a small size scroll it more and scroll it less for a bigger size. A very cool idea, indeed.
