Maurice Lacroix, the luxury watch maker impresses us with new models every year with an occassional dose of the high end in one of watches. Same goes for the Masterpiece Tourbillon Retrograde timepiece that has been created to celebrate Maurice Lacriox’s 30th aniversary. Quite aptly, only 30 limited edition pieces have been made.

Please note that the Masterpiece label on a Maurice Lacroix watch means something extra special than the mainstream luxury. No wonder, the Retrograde timepiece comes in a 43.5 mm wide platinum case that is any watch collector’s dream. Manually-wound and hand-built, the watch comes with ML110 tourbillon movement features and has a 90 hours power reserve. All of the 232 watch components have been fabricated by hand.

But all that does not mean the watch is a complicated one. In fact, it’s strength lies in it simplicity. And if you are wondering what does Retrograde in the watch’s name imply. Well, it stands for the date dial on the upper left. The traditional artistice look is completed by the double arched tourbillon brudge and traditional pomme hands. The watch strap has been made from black crocodile leather. The price tag is $150,000.
