As per the predictions released by McAfee, one of the leading names in Internet security software, the software system currently run by numerous corporate entities are in dire need enhanced protection, to prevent any sort of damaging cyber attack by hackers. These systems that the companies use to maintain their financial and other records have constantly been the targets of cyber criminals prowling the internet, to take advantage of vulnerable systems and then exploit them for their own gains.
In the year 2009, McAfee initiated, Operation Aurora, wherein the security firm worked closely with numerous companies, who had been the victims of various forms of cyber attacks. This drive included the Internet search giant, Google and other companies that were attacked by hackers. These cyber attacks that were reported in the month of January this year by Google, were alleged to have been carried out by Chinese hackers, who according to Google, were after the Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists.
During the cyber attack, the hackers were able to penetrate some of the most sophisticated security measures employed by the companies and were able to access corporate data and at times even got their hands on the software codes. Since the cyber attack, McAfee has been urging the companies to strengthen their security measures, in order to further safeguard their data and operational security.
