Swimming pools, saunas and hot tubs will not be out in makeshift camps of pilgrims to Mecca this year, before an exclusive luxury of five star hotels.
Also new are the international chains of restaurants in these camps, where tourism businesses come to distribute iPads and iPhones as gifts to the faithful. Services include a nutritionist and an expert in cook light meals.
The pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca is one of the five pillars of Islam and is compulsory once in a lifetime for all Muslims in good health and favorable economic situation. In many cases, the economic situation not only allows but also pays travel luxuries that do not extend to most travelers.
There is fierce competition among local companies about the quality of services to attract the faithful richer. If a pilgrimage to Mecca has a cost exceeding $ 1 500, the faithful rich may spend up to $ 50,000.
The Saudi pilgrims complained that they paid lots of money without having the same services offered in the camps of believers from the countries of the Persian Gulf. As a result, the organizers of the trips include the services, but still failed to please everyone.
The Saudi interior minister, Nayef bin Abdul Aziz shared the same stance when he said that travel costs are exaggerated and are not available to the faithful middle-class. However, the companies claimed that Saudis will not fail to offer the luxury services and announced new features for the next year, will include massages, gyms and sports coaches.
Saudi Arabia expects to receive 2.5 million faithful to the Hajj, which begins on Sunday and is the largest annual human concentration in the world.
