If you thought the recession is driving people crazy and making them scrimp their budgets, think again. IN the world of vintage cars and futuristic automobiles, there is no dearth of people who would spend obscene amounts of money in order to get themselves a cool car. Barret-Jackson Collector Car Event, which usually rakes in all the moolah by exhibiting and auctioning various rare cars, was expected to fare miserably this time.

However it shocked everyone to realize that perhaps it was this year that the auction could manage to make so much of money. As much as $29 million was made in terms of sales! The highlight of the event was the 1949 MG TC Roadster Race Car, which raked in $313,500. Apparently, it was driven by the legendary Carroll Shelby the first time he participated in a road race in 1952.

Looks like the recession will drive people to spend more, in order to drive away the bankruptcy blues. Many other cars were part of the auctioning event too, but the MG TC Roadster simply blew everyone’s minds and managed to take the center-stage in the event.
