Microsoft Corporation has finally announced the launch date for the highly anticipated Office 2010 suite. As per Microsoft, the Office 2010 package will be launched on May 12th 2010, wherein companies that would posses volume license agreements, would be able to acquire Office 2010 that day itself. However, the personal and business editions to Office 2010, that do not come with licensing deals, will be available from June onwards.

Furthermore, Microsoft has also announced the slated launch of an all new upgrade program for Office 2010, that would enable users to switch to the new Office suite, provided their currently installed Office 2007 software was purchased between Sept. 30th 2009. to till date. As per the upgrade program, all those users who have purchased the Office 2007 suite from March 5 to Sept. 30th 2009 will be eligible for a free upgrade to the Office 2010 edition. Also, those users, who would prefer to acquire the new software
via DVD, would be charged with a small shipping-and-handling fee, that will be announced in June 2010.

The users who had purchased a legitimate copy of Office Home and Student 2007 will be eligible for a free upgrade to Office Home and Student 2010 and the users with Office Standard 2007 and Office Basic 2007 will be eligible for a free copy of Office Home and Business 2010.

Also, the owners of genuine Office Small Business 2007, Office Professional 2007 or Office Ultimate 2007 will be provided a free copy of Office Professional 2010. However, Microsoft has set a limit of 25 free upgrades per user, thereby compelling users with multiple copies to get into a volume licensing deal with Microsoft.
