With little success caused by Windows Mobile 6.5 and the Zune media player, columnists from various sites on the Internet begin to speculate and encourage the purchase of Palm by Microsoft. The rumors started from the official release of WebOS, Palm’s new operating system based on Linux.
The giant of Bill Gates should buy Palm? George Kurian, vice president of Tradition Capital Management thinks so.
According to the website Fierce Wireless, Kurian said that the best way to do so would encourage Microsoft to acquire Palm.
David Carnoy (CNET) recalls an article addressing the same subject at the beginning of 2009. He summarized the text saying that Microsoft should abandon Yahoo! and stop worrying about the web, while the software market is thriving and is 10 times more lucrative than that.
The moment is propitious. If the Palm was acquired by Microsoft could now improve Pre, gain support and improve its music store and other applications; could even become a strong competitor to Apple in the coming year.
Remember, the current president of the Palm is Jon Rubinstein, who has been vice chairman of the division of Apple’s iPods.
