Microsoft can sell “family” version of Windows 7

windows7 Microsoft can sell family version of Windows 7

Microsoft may launch a “family” version of Windows 7 Home Premium, which gives the right to install the operating system on up to three different computers in the same house.

This possibility was discovered by the site ZDNet, after reviewing the agreements embedded in the License folder found in the Release Candidate version of Windows 7 Home Premium in which contain this eye-opening clause:” If you are a “Qualified User Family Pack ‘, you may install one copy of the software marked the ‘Family Pack’ on three computers in your household for use by people who live there.”

Microsoft has not confirmed the information, nor disclosed the value of the package, but the ZDNet site estimates that the family package will cost $ 189.

The only problem is that the version of Windows 7 Home Premium has suggested price of $ 199, meaning that the “family” should have a different price.

The most likely is that the buyers of Home Premium version of the new operating system will have three licenses, as already happens nowadays with the package of office applications for Office 2007.

There is also the possibility that Microsoft remove the clause from the final version of Windows 7, which should reach the market on 22 October.
