Microsoft Pairs Up With Verizon Wireless To Introduce Social Network Intensive ‘Kin’ Smart Phones

Since the social networking revolution carried out by Facebook and Twitter, there had been bits and pieces of news about Microsoft working of smart phones that would be intensively dedicated to social networking. Now, finally the day has come when those tidbits can now actually be called facts, as Microsoft has introduced Kin 1 and Kin 2, the newest additions to the Microsoft smart phones series. Both the devices sport a QWERTY keyboard and a myriad of social networking application and will be available via Verizon Wireless from the month of May this year.

The Kin series of smart phones have been provided with a rather user friendly visual interface and the operating system has been designed to make social networking tasks such as uploading and connecting with family and friends, a walk in the park. The Kin series from Microsoft is largely targeted towards the teenage generation, where social networking is especially prevalent. Users can take advantage of an all new feature, ‘Kin Spot’, that would enable them to share videos, photos, link and other content by dragging the items into the Kin Spot and then selecting which content to upload.

Furthermore, the Kin series has also been made multimedia sensitive, as the devices will comes a HD player for media playback, which is being considered as a very impressive improvement over the ever stagnant Windows Media Player. The Zune player HD will be compatible with Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac operating systems for PCs. The Kin 1 and Kind 2 have been manufactured by the Sharp Corporation. Kin 1 features a 5 MP camera with flash memory and internal storage capacity of 4GB. On the other hand, Kin 2 will sport a 8 MP camera and will support flash memory, along with 8GB of internal storage space.
