Apparently after introducing the much warranted ‘Browser Ballot’ screen in Europe, Microsoft Corporation it seems isn’t out of the woods yet. As per reports, Microsoft is currently scrambling to fix an error in the Browser Ballot screen showed in computers across Poland. Due to this error, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is being shown on top of the ballot list.
After months of negotiations and saber rattling, Microsoft had finally relented to the introduction of a Browser Ballot screen amid the threats of an antitrust case, that was brought upon by the European Union. As per the case, the officials strongly believed that, by bundling Internet Explorer with Microsoft Windows operating system, the company was in fact monopolizing the market and creating unfair circumstances for the competitors. These new Browser Ballot screen are shown on the computers running Internet Explorer on default mode and also comes with new computers for the first time setup. As per the ballot screen, the users are provided 11 separate web browsers to choose from, including Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera and others.
However, the ballot screens in Poland seems to have encountered an error wherein, instead of a random order, the browser choices are now being shown in a particular order, where Internet Explorer starts off as the first choice and then leads to Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Safari.
According to Microsoft,
“We were already aware of the issue, which applies only to the Polish language version of the browser choice screen, and we have the fix scheduled for next week.”
