windows 7 Microsoft Windows 7 Should Be Given Rest Till Service Pack 1

Even with all the enthusiasm and fanfare behind the launch of the much anticipated Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, computer support companies are recommending that, user should stick to their existing operating systems for the meantime, till Microsoft is able to fix the bugs in the OS and release the Service Pack 1 to Windows 7. One of the primary concerns of these support firms, is the danger of complete data wipe out during the upgrade process.

Accroding to Josh Kaplan (President, Rescuecom),

“From the calls we’re getting, as well as our own experience in the past with all Microsoft’s operating systems, we’re recommending that people stick with their time-tested OS and wait for the dust to settle. There are some compelling reasons for both businesses and home users to move to Windows 7, so we’re saying ‘just wait for a bit.”

Ever since the launch of Windows 7 last week, the Microsoft support forums have been flooded with Windows 7 upgrade errors. In some cases, the users have lost their entire data while the upgrade was in process. In many other cases, the users have complained that, the systems have been engaged in an endless loop while upgrading Microsoft Windows Vista to Windows 7. So far, Microsoft hasn’t been able to come out with a concrete solution to the problem.

According to Kaplan,

“Transferring all their data, their digital life essentially, is one of the most common, and most troubling, issues that users have. Even if you’re doing an in-place [upgrade], if you don’t have a proper backup, you’re still at risk. Without the proper preparation, moving to a new OS is risky for anybody.”

Experts have suggested the users to wait for some time to upgrade to Windows 7, thereby ensuring that the faults in the OS are fixed and do not create any hassle in user experience. Furthermore, users can also wait for more companies to bring out computers pre-installed with Windows 7, that would have been tried and tested before being released into the mainstream market.
