The all new Microsoft Zune HD (High Definition) that is slated to be the biggest introduction in the portable media player market has is expected to give every such player a run for its money, due to the fact that Zune is running on the extremely high performance Nvidia multicore Tegra processor.

Zune has been integrated with Nvidia Tegra, that is composed with twin processor cores, where in the first processor, that is built on ARM11 core accommodates and run the operating system for the device and the other processor is Nvidia GeForce graphics chip.

Microsoft Zune will be available in the commercial markets from September 15, 2009, in five colors. The users will also be given an optional choice to incorporate a custom design at the back of the device. These designs have been created by guest artists, who Microsoft had especially hired for the Zune. The portable device features a OLED (organic light-emitting diode) and a web browser that supports multiple touch, among other features. Microsoft Zune will be available on pre-order bookings in the initial stages. The 16GB Black Zune is available for $219.99, with a 32 GB “Platinum” version is priced at $289.99.

According to Michael Rayfield (G.M. Nvidia Mobile Unit),

”We accelerate Flash, we have HD video, we do acceleration of rendering of Web pages on the GPU. The Zune HD will be an amazing showcase of what Tegra is capable of doing.There’s about 50 devices in design right now with Tegra.”
