The Media Labs division of the revolutionary Massachusetts Institute of Technology, that gave us a sneak peek of the Sixth Sense technology, that was centered on wearable computer systems is yet again working on a sensational concept, that has been planned to further bridge the gap between human and machine relationships. This all new project is called Cornucopia: Digital Gastronomy is a concept through which the MITians are planning to create 3D food printer. The project has been undertaken by the Fluid Interfaces Group, which is a part of the MIT Media Labs.
Although the 3D food printer might seem to be a too far fetched idea, yet the basics of the project have already been chalked out and the researchers have begun their work on perfecting a machine that would provide us with just about cuisine in the cook books. The all new Cornucopia 3D food printer will be composed primarily be composed of food canisters, that have been designed to store the ingredients. These ingredients would then be processed by a mixer and extruder head, that would mix the ingredients of the cuisine to the perfect amount. As per the amount of heat or cold required to cook the food, the heating and cooling chambers will kick in thus providing the users with the best of taste, nutrition and food quality.
If and when the project solidifies into a working prototype, the world would witness initiation of of an all new era of automated cooking, where people will be able to prepare just about anything than can come up with.
