Vexed up with busy urban life, many of us often feel like spending a couple of days peacefully in a farmhouse that’s off city limits. We often want our farmhouses to be old-fashioned and traditional that reminds you of your childhood in the meadows. Michelle Kaufmann can give you one.

Design: The new mkHearth (meaning ‘centre of the home’), is a prefab farmhouse that is both modern and appealing. Measuring 2,820 sq ft, with a high-pitched roof and a straightforward façade, this 3- bed room green farmhouse reminds you of an old gingerbread house with a fashionable touch. It has a living room with fireplace at the centre surrounded by the other rooms like office, kitchen, etc. There is also a multi-purpose loft space in the top floor that can be used as your office or the children’s playroom or even as a guest room.

Green Features: Kaufmann has used eco-friendly furniture to decorate the house. With high-performance insulation and mechanical systems, passive solar design, water-conserving fixtures, and rainwater collection, this house will save on the natural resources and power consumption. The designer has tried her best to make every single inch of this home environment friendly.

These prefab farmhouses appear to be inexpensive, energy-proficient and strong. We shall look forward to their arrival.
