The world may be facing, according to most scientists, a crisis due to our unhealthy lifestyles and it is up to all of us to contribute in every way we can by saving energy and shifting to a more eco-friendly way of living. One of the most encouraged of these methods is to ride a bike to work or elsewhere.
Though bike commuting is encouraged in many cities by educational by educational institutions and businesses, it is difficult to ensure the reliability of the data submitted by individuals. Many programs offer rewards to people who make bike commuting their priority and going by word of mouth in these cases doesn’t truly help the situation or bring about real motivation amongst people when there isn’t a sure-fire way of accumulating reliable data. Motive is a bike computer that intends to solve all these problems. It records data from the commuter’s bike saving information related to speed and distance which is then transmitted to a central server from where users can view their stats. The site would also offer extra information of the amount of gas saved and also the calories burned for the health conscious.
The site also offers commuters to challenge each other, or even hold competitions between different companies. The data on the site can be reliably used for programs which reward devoted commuters. It appears that the product is still in the conceptual stage because no information regarding pricing is available as of now.
