An Iranian woman is unjustly condemned for adultery, then she is tied, gagged and buried in earth up to the waist, then she is stoned until dies in a bloody and shocking scene in a movie that will be launched in American theaters this week.
“The Stoning of Soraya M.” is a drama based on best-seller of the same title written by a French-Iranian journalist on the death of an Iranian woman in a village in 1986.
In the film, local authorities use the Islamic Sharia law to encourage inhabitants of the village to turn against her friend and neighbor.
The film debut in North American cities on Friday, amid the international outrage over the protests and bloodshed in Iran triggered by disputed presidential election results. The director of the film, Cyrus Nowrasteh, says the timing was not planned.
The goal is to create a dramatic condemnation of the practice of death by stoning, which still occurs in countries that include Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Somalia, said Nowrasteh to Reuters.
Born in the U.S., the director is Iranian descent, who spent part of his childhood in Iran, said: “Basically, this movie deals with the injustice.”
Nowrasteh said that the film does not criticize Islam or specifically Iran, but those who use religion for their own purposes in several countries.

I will not see this film, however. It goes beyond my understanding that we, in the free word allow this to continue. I personally would jump on anyone that would subject an animal to this horribly barbaric, cruel beyond belief act by persons toward another person. I am ashame to call myself a human being when I am surrounded by what I call less than neanderthals and I my outrage is just that. MEANINGLESS OUTRAGE!!!!!!!! I have never read the Qoran, but I will. And, if it calls for such ignominy, then I will burn it savagely as its proper burial. Oh to be Rambo and charge against such injustice!!
