Google now provides MSI packages for installation of Google Chrome browser. Until then, to install Chrome on all computers on the network was necessary to give the commands locally on each computer, which means that the coach had to “walk” by the company to do so. Already the new installer (MSI stands for Microsoft Software Installer) allows remote installation over the network, with minimal intervention from the network administrator, as the reports Mashable.
It is precisely the facilities at the installation on multiple computers in a network that this package is important for companies. By delivering the new installer, Chrome goes toward the market in which Microsoft Internet Explorer has a broader benefit in large enterprises.
But this is not the only constraint: compatibility with “intranets“, other internal services and the cost of change must maintain the preference for IE in many companies and institutions, as well illustrated by the recent case of United Kingdom, which refused to update the IE6 browser on the other younger.
The MSI package Google Chrome is available directly from the Google site (http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?msi=true) and, of course, can only be used for installation on Windows.
